Mrs Deb Turner, WH&S and Compliance Officer
You may be aware there was a recall notice of some coloured sand issued recently, the products under the recall may cause a risk to health as asbestos has been detected in some samples after laboratory testing.
The College has checked for any coloured sand on campus and found some very old product from a number of years ago; whilst none of the product is under the recall, the College has made the decision to dispose of these products in the manner outlined in the recall.
Again, these products had been in storage for a number of years and were not part of the recall, the College undertook disposal as a matter of good practice and over caution. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs Deb Turner, WH&S and Compliance Officer via dturner@clayfield.qld.edu.au.
It’s that wonderful time of year again; our Class Christmas Parties are coming up! Each teacher will be in touch soon to share details about what your child’s class will be doing to celebrate, including plans for gifts, Secret Santas, food, and the timing of their party.
When choosing or making gifts, we encourage families to think about the true spirit of Christmas. A heartfelt, handmade gift or card can be especially meaningful and will help make our celebrations even more special.
Wednesday 3 December
School will finish for the year for all students (Pre-Prep to Year 11), on Wednesday 3 December at 12:50pm.
Pre-Prep to Year 6 parents attending the Primary Presentation are welcome to take their child/ren at the conclusion of the event at approximately 11:00am, with notification to their teacher.
Remaining students will stay with their teachers with the following arrangements:
If you are finishing the school year early, we kindly ask that you follow the College process and seek permission with an email to Mrs Fellowes: afellowes@clayfield.qld.edu.au
Please refer to an email sent from Mrs Miranda Cavaliere - Academic Office: mcavaliere@clayfield.qld.edu.au, regarding 2026 Student Resources and Textbooks.

Our Pre-Prep parents and carers are invited to share their children’s learning at our Stay and Play session the morning of Tuesday 25 November, while our Prep to Year 2 families are invited to share their children’s learning at Gallery Walks at 2:20pm on Wednesday 26 November. You will be astounded at the huge progress made by all our students this year when you enjoy the work showcased in each of the classrooms.
The spirit of Christmas has arrived in Pre-Prep as the classroom transforms for the festive season. Christmas stockings are now on display, ready to collect cards exchanged among the class. This simple tradition not only brings joy but also creates a meaningful link to early literacy, as children practise writing their peers’ names.
Our Year 6 buddies joined Pre-Prep to support the children in choosing Christmas symbols that resonated with them and decorating their stockings. These moments of collaboration continue to strengthen relationships across the College and help our youngest learners feel a strong sense of belonging within the wider school community.

Our Year 4 students were fortunate to welcome Mrs Lisa Curtis earlier this term, who shared valuable insights into what everyday life looks like for students living in a remote community. This sparked rich discussion and curiosity, and we are excited to have now arranged a video conference between our cohort and the Academy students so they can exchange questions, stories and experiences firsthand.
As part of this connection, Year 4 have been writing letters to the children at the Academy, describing life in a major city and at a larger school. Thanks to the generosity of our community, boxes of souvenirs have already been organised. These items range from small toys and books to stationery and unused toiletries, all of which will help our students share a little piece of life in Brisbane with their new friends.
Year 7 Badge Ceremony
Our continuing Year 6 Clayfield students proudly received their Senior School badges this week, marking an important step in their journey. They were joined on stage by our new students, walking in together in pairs. This was a simple but special moment that highlighted connection, belonging and true Clayfield spirit.
The Year 6 cohort were inspired by the impressive musical and cultural performances, as well as the celebration of academic achievement throughout the ceremony. They are very much looking forward to the next step in their Clayfield journey.
