Last Night was the opening Night of the Wizard of Oz. After months of rehearsals and hours of planning, the moment arrived. It was great to see the audience stream in down the Yellow Brick road to the hall. Some paused to have  a drink at the Kansas City Bar or head outside to taste a delicious Glinda the Good Witch Grazing Plate with a Tinman soda  and some Munchkin mixed lollies to complete the treat.

In the Learning Spaces there was great excitement as children arrived in their costumes and make up. They were well prepared and our little STARS were super eager to get on stage to show off their talents.

Before too long it was time and the show commenced. The children were amazing!! Like the characters in the story they displayed the talents they had mastered during the process. They showed great intellect like the scarecrow, perfecting choreography and memorizing lines. They made the characters come to life with their acting, timing and expression. They displayed tremendous courage like the Lion, stepping out to perform in front of an audience. They were all heart and passion siezing the moment and delighting the audience with their sparkling personalities that shone like the Tinman in the story. Their kindness and support for one another is what we love about our children. During this show our dance items were performed by Foundation to 6 students and they collaborated and helped each other along the way and on the night. Finally like Dorothy, they have been on a journey to a dream and have overcome challenges in good spirit to get to performing. There are a multitude of stories behind the scenes. As teachers and parents we can truly be so proud of what they have achieved and the quality of their performance.

Our school provides this extra curricular opportunity that will be a precious memory of our children's school life. This does not happen by chance. A huge thank you to Maddison for her direction and production of this year's show. Maddison has choreographed the entire show. She has been the constant that has brought a dream to reality with her great organisation, teaching and creative energy. We are so grateful for her positivity and ability to make this dream a reality. This was Maddison's first production and she has done a sensational job.

A production does not just happen and there are a team of staff who have worked to bring this together. A BIG thanks to Kristy who was on the production team at the start of the year till she went on maternity leave in June and thanks to Sarah who has taken on the task for the past 10 weeks. I know their attention to detail has been a huge support. Thanks to Tarryn who has helped with lighting and IT related tasks. Together with Maddison they have ensured everything was timed to precision and everyone was well informed about their role.

One teacher said, " The children were prepared so well, they knew exactly where they had to be and what they had to do. I think they could have run it without us, Maddison and the team have done a great job with them!!."

The stage props and hall and even the entrance to the hall looked amazing in the theme of the production. From the Yellow Brick road to the Emerald City the school looked fabulous. Thanks to Katherine and Melissa for all their work on props and backdrops. Also a huge thanks to Tanya, Kevin, Martin, Anju, Peacelyne and students for the displays and props.

It was certainly a team effort and behind the scenes we have a dedicated and professional staff. The support and energy of our staff encouraging and helping students makes working at this school so extra wonderful. The passion of all staff to join together to make such big events happen is extra special. I thank everyone for their involvement and commitment.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Operoo is Closing

You have been using Operoo to share student medical information with the school and also give consent to excursions, incursions and other events. Operoo has informed us this term that they are ceasing operations world wide but will only continue in America.

We have been in communication with MACS as this affects several schools. After consultation, we will be moving to using NForma to do this task. We already use NForma at the school and parents already have the app on their phones so the change over will be easier.

We expected Operoo to close for our school today but there is a delay from Operoo and it will occur in coming days. When the migration of data commences, we will receive this data in a secured download.  This data will then transfer to NForma via a second secured download.

We expect the process to be completed by next week.

In the interim, We will be using an electronic as well as a paper record to access each child's medical record till the migration has been completed.

We have closed off eforms in Operoo. New forms regarding events will now occur via NForma. A form was sent out this week about Multicultural Day. If you have not already downloaded the NForma Parent Portal please do this for access to school communication. Wen you have downloaded the app for the first time you will get a link that will use the Use the gmail address you shared with the school. You will get a temporary password and will need to create one for future use.

Once we have medical information on Nforma we will begin to open up other functions such as First Aid and Absences. We look forward to communicating via the nForma Portal.

If you have any questions, please speak with Christine or Joanna.

Split Fee Arrangements for 2026

Families who wish to arrange split fee accounts between partners are asked to contact the school office immediately so we can set this up in our system. Once we roll over to the new school year, it will be too late to make these changes for 2026. Early notification via an email to admin@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au helps ensure accurate billing and a smooth start to the new year. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
