Grade 1 News

Welcome to Week 6! 

Grade 1 students have been doing some wonderful learning over the past two weeks. In Mathematics, we have been exploring the different parts of shapes and learning the correct names for these features. Students have explored shapes using a range of tools like Geoboards, matchsticks and using rulers to correctly make 2D shapes.

In Religion, we have begun our new unit Waiting for Jesus, where students are learning about Advent and its importance in our Church calendar.

During Writing, students are continuing to develop their narrative skills by expanding their stories with descriptive language to make their writing more detailed and engaging. It has been wonderful reading all of the imaginative stories that students have created. We have also been looking at how to edit our pieces of writing.

We are all looking forward to tomorrow’s performance of The Wizard of Oz at Galen — it’s sure to be a fun and memorable experience!
