Grade 6 News

Literacy Update
In Literacy, students are continuing their novel study of Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow. As part of this unit, they have been developing their own fantasy narratives, with a strong focus on the writing technique “show, don’t tell.” Students are learning to enhance their writing by incorporating figurative language such as similes, metaphors, and personification. They have been practicing these literary devices at the sentence level and are now working to weave them effectively into their full narrative texts.
Numeracy Update
In our current Numeracy unit, students are exploring the connections between fractions, decimals, and percentages. This integrated approach helps build a deeper understanding of how these concepts relate to everyday situations. Over the past week, students have been applying their knowledge to solve real-world problems involving percentage discounts. Through hands-on activities and worded problems, they’ve been learning how to calculate savings, compare prices, and make informed decisions—skills that are not only mathematically important but also highly practical.
Graduation Dance
Year 6 students have begun rehearsing for their special Graduation Dance performance. They are being guided and supported by Samantha Pulverenti from Pulsate Dance Academy, who is helping them learn choreography and build confidence when performing.
