Grade 4 News

This week, students will be attending the Wizard of Oz production at Galen. We are looking forward to seeing the performance and it will be a great opportunity for students to experience live theatre.
In Literacy, we are finishing our class novel His Name Was Walter. Students have been discussing mystery themes and storytelling. Our narrative writing unit has seen some fantastic imaginative pieces, with students working on developing setting, character voice and descriptive detail. Our next unit will be Information Report writing, where students will learn to organise facts clearly, use topic-specific vocabulary and build well-structured paragraphs.
In Mathematics, we are completing our work on Probability. Students have been using language such as impossible, unlikely, possible, likely and certain to describe chance events. They have also been comparing outcomes and recognising how probability appears in everyday situations. We will then move into Multiplication and Division. Regular practice of times tables at home will greatly support confidence.
In Religion, we are finishing our unit Reaching Out and Serving Others. Students have reflected on how small acts of kindness contribute to building a caring community at home, at school and in the wider world. Next, we will begin exploring the meaning of Christmas through the Jesse Tree, learning about the stories and people who helped prepare the way for Jesus.
In Humanities, we continue to investigate Life Cycles. Students have been comparing how different living things grow and change and are using labelled diagrams to show their understanding.
Our swimming Program is next week, please ensure that your child has labelled swimmers, towel, slip on shoes and goggles. In Week 8 we have a Beechworth Excursion planned. We will visit the Beechworth Museum and the Bee School to support our learning about history, community and local identity. More information and permission notes will be available on PAM soon.
Please remember that hats are required each day in Term 4, and bringing a labelled drink bottle helps students stay hydrated as the weather warms up.
Thank you for your continued support.
We encourage students to stay focused, work kindly and finish the term with pride.
