Happy Week 6

We had the most wonderful visit to Kyabram Fauna Park. The students demonstrated the vales of St. Bernard's, safety, respect and responsibility throughout the day. We were lucky enough to be there on the first day of the new Wombat enclosure, and we were able to watch the Wombats explore their new home.

The habitats and lifecycles educational session allowed students to complete a range of activities that had them study the environment through microscopes and binoculars. In addition, while they are not native to Australia, we were lucky enough to be given an impromptu zoo keep talk about the Meerkats as we arrived.

We walked through the wetlands and were able to observe many different wetland birds. There were plenty of signs to help students identify the correct species. Students enjoyed watching different animals that lived around the wetland from inside the birdwatching hut and up high from the wetland tower.

This path also saw us walk through native bushland where there were several different species of kangaroos and wallabies. Can you see them in the grass?

We visited aviaries with many bird varieties and got to witness the echidna out looking for some lunch.

We participated in the education session led by the zoo staff. This was engaging for the students as they got to participate in hands on learning about life cycles and animal feathers.
