The enthusiasm brought to school by the youngest members of our St George’s family has been infectious across the first three week of term. It has been wonderful to see them enjoying their High School journey.
Year 8 students have hit the ground running and are enjoying their new “home base” on Level 3 while reconnecting with their old friends and making new friends with those students joining us in Year 8. They have also excitedly met their new teachers and begun the walk to CQU for Maths.
As we settle into the regular school routine, I encourage the Year 8 students to channel their focus into ensuring a strong start to their learning. Asking questions, regularly checking Daily Notices and Direqt Messages and ensuring they are using their School Diary to record assessment dates will assist with their organisation and overall engagement in classes.
This afternoon Year 7 students participated in the first Games and Picnic in the Park event. The purpose of this new addition to the calendar is to facilitate opportunities outside of the classroom for students to begin establishing strong connections across the cohort. After lunch under the trees with their House group, the students competed in team games and a variety of different challenges. On the way back to school we visited the Elizabeth Quay waterpark to cool off. It was the perfect way to conclude their foray into high school.
I am looking forward to a positive and productive 2024. Please contact me with any questions or feedback and if you are able to sign your child's Homework Diary each week this would be much appreciated by the PCG Tutors who are monitoring our younger students use of these important planning and organisations documents.
