Getting to Know You

Mr Thompson
Mr Thompson

It has been exciting to finally be here as Head of Pastoral – Student Wellbeing and immersed whole heartedly in the life of the school. The students are what make a school special and so I have been thrilled to hear the noise of the students return to the floors of St George’s.

I hope by now that your child might have mentioned me at home. I am not as tall as the previous Head of Pastoral and I have a slightly different accent. I am however as passionate about the wellbeing of the students here and my door is always open to them to help make their day that little bit better.

It has been a fast-paced start to Term One. As the school continues to grow, new staff, including me, are finding their feet and life at St George’s is back in its rhythm again and that makes me smile.

I have worked for many years in Pastoral Care leadership and I firmly believe that student wellbeing is at the core of student success. Mr Bochrinis and I will be working closely together to ensure that pastoral care and academic care here go hand in hand.

As parents you are warmly welcomed to contact me with any questions, queries or concerns that you might have or even to just say hello. You can email me, Direqt message me or even make an appointment to pop in and see me. Please know that I see your child's journey here as a partnership, and one that I am fully invested in.

Late in the school holidays, I was fortunate to meet with the 2024 Year 12 Student Leaders.

Mr Hayward, Head of Year 11 and 12, and I were immediately impressed by their connection to the school and their deep pride that they have for the school. They are keen to leave a lasting legacy within the school and it has been an absolute joy to work with them over the first few weeks of the 2024 academic school year. It is going to be an exciting year ahead, that’s for sure.

There will be much more to come from this group and they are teaching me . what it means to be a member of the  St George’s School Family – this is indeed a special school.

New students have been swept up by their mentors and the buzz in the air on each and every floor of the school has been palpable.

Congratulations to all students for the way that they have started 2024 and thank you to each and everyone of you, especially the Year 12 leaders and my Year 11 Chem Class for making the start of my journey at St George’s so very special. I am thrilled to be here and remind you all that I am here to help you – my door is always open!
