We hope this newsletter finds you in good spirits as we embark on another exciting year filled with creativity, passion, and boundless talent in the world of Drama and Dance. The past few weeks have been nothing short of spectacular, and we are thrilled to share some highlights with you.
Co-Curricular Dance
Our Dance Company auditions were an immense success! A whopping 58 students brought their unique flair to the auditions, showcasing their skills in hip-hop choreography. The acceptance contracts have been sent out, and our talented students have already started developing their group choreography’s titled ‘Dracula’ and ‘Y2K’. Get ready to witness some mesmerising performances as they bring their visions to life throughout the year.
Frozen Auditions
The Frozen auditions have been magical! The abundance of talent at St George's has made the casting process a challenging yet incredibly rewarding experience. A total of 42 students auditioned for lead roles, and more than 72 students are participating in drama and dance ensemble auditions this week. We are committed to maximising opportunities for all students who audition, ensuring that their talents shine on stage.
Curricular Drama Classes
Our Drama classes have kicked off splendidly, with both new and familiar talents breathing life into the school. Students are delving into a variety of areas including Yip Yip Circus skills, Children's Theatre fractured fairytales, realism and absurdist rhinoceros transformations. Dance students have also been honing their techniques and choreography skills through captivating performances such as Hairspray, Broadway Jazz, Bang Bang Commercial/Broadway Jazz, Wicked Game Contemporary/Lyrical, and Job Stereotypes Abstract Contemporary.
Upcoming Events
An upcoming highlight for Year 12 Drama class is the Laban workshop with Feet First Collective. This workshop will empower them with Physical Theatre tools, preparing them for their first performance of the year.
Get ready, too, for an excursion to witness The Pool, the much-anticipated Year 12 Drama Camp, and excursions to the annual Perspectives showcase. These experiences promise to enrich our students' understanding of the arts and provide them with inspiration for their own creative journeys.
We can't wait to witness the incredible talents of our Drama and Dance students unfold throughout the year. Thank you for your continued support, and here's to a year filled with artistic excellence!

Our Ballad of the Birds season for the 2024 Fringe World festival was impressive.
The Electrocity Ensemble’s blend of sampling, looping, live electronics and sound design created a captivating musical experience. The show featured a mix of new compositions written by the students at the end of 2023 for their Fringe World season and old favourites such as the WAM Song of the Year (2018/19) winning track Can’t Help This Feeling that showcased the ensemble's evolution and versatility.
It was a memorable performance that highlighted the innovative potential of combining traditional instruments with contemporary electronic elements. More information about the group can be found at electrocity.com.au/ and you can also search for them to listen on Spotify.
