Meet the Head of Year 8, Libby Schuring

Greetings, Year 8 Families,

I would like to extend a warm welcome to the students and families of the Year 8 cohort, and take this opportunity to introduce myself!

My name is Libby Schuring, and I am the Head of Year 8 for 2024, I am also excited to be a new member of staff to St Mary’s Catholic College! I am an advocate for student wellbeing, and believe in nurturing, not only the academic skills, but also essential life skills that contribute to a thriving and resilient student body.

A little bit about me, I am a mum of three kids – two of whom are teenagers and a six-year-old. When I am not at school, you will find me reading a book, spending time with family or participating in my favourite pastime, singing. I am excited to get started working with the Year 8 cohort as they move  away from being the newbies of the College. We have some great opportunities throughout the year to work together, including our Year 8 adventure camp to Mungalli in Term 2.

At St. Mary's Catholic College, we believe in, and greatly value the partnership between staff, students, and families. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's education and well-being, your first point of call is to please connect with your child's Pastoral Group Mentor. These details can be found on the Parent Portal.

Additionally, I also welcome contact and am always keen to hear about both successes and challenges your child experiences.

Warm regards,

Libby Schuring
