EVENT SCHEDULE FOR 2024

What a wonderful year 2023 was!

 

A variety of community and fundraising events were held this year, and I would like to pass on my gratitude and thanks to all those that volunteered hours, provided baking, or assisted in one of the many other ways to make each of our events successful; these events wouldn’t happen without our volunteers so THANK YOU! 

 

The total fundraising amount raised in 2023 was $41,382!! This is an incredible result and we look forward to hopefully matching that in 2024!

 

An Event Survey was conducted in early October by the Fundraising & Events Committee, with the results indicating families wanted to know in advance when events were scheduled. Another recurring comment from the survey indicated ‘donor fatigue’ regarding bake stalls and volunteering, for both school-related activities, and for fundraising events. To make community events and fundraising events successful, we rely on volunteers. With this feedback in mind, we have developed the SMPPS School Activities & Events Calendar to assist families in forward planning. We hope that this enables a wider community of volunteers to run these events.

 

CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2024

 

From the Fundraising & Events committee:

  • 1 x Community Event per term
  • 1 x Fundraising Event per term 

with the following exceptions:

  1. Due to shorter Term 1 (9 weeks), it was decided to not include a fundraiser in this time frame, with 2 x Community Events, Labour Day weekend, GP lockdown and Easter.
     
  2. Term 4: there will not be a school-wide End of Year picnic; Class Reps will organise separate celebrations with classes or year level, to suit their schedules.

GENERAL SCHOOL INFORMATION

* Curriculum Days in Term 2 and Term 3 are yet to be finalised - this is subject to a multitude of factors including teacher training availability and planning dates.

 

* Book Week is usually held in Term 3, however this can be subject to author availability and can change. 

As soon as these dates are confirmed, we will update the SMPPS Event Calendar and notify families.

 

FUNDRAISING & EVENT NOTES

* Family Welcome Picnic to be held in the first two weeks of Term to allow new students and families to mingle earlier in term. 

 

* Parents Welcome Bowls to be hosted on the Saturday afternoon from 3 - 6pm of Week 4. This will provide opportunities for families with working parents to attend.

 

* Walkathon to be combined with a special ANZAC Day Assembly.

 

* Mothers Day breakfast and lunch will be hosted on the same Friday in 2024, whereas this year (2023), they were hosted a week apart.

 

* Term 3 Fundraiser - date locked in and confirmed after consideration of other school activities. Event type to be determined.

 

* Performance Day - date has been confirmed. A combined Picnic/Afternoon Tea to accompany the performance is to be confirmed. There will be no bake stall for this as it is close to the Father’s Day Breakfast, which relies on home baked donations.

 

* Colour Run will be a Fundraiser as well as a Community Event
