UPDATE ON ALLOCATED FUNDS RAISED

In May of this year, a motion was passed by the School Council to change the priority use of School Raised Funds, as noted in the School Newsletter:

Enhance play spaces to promote student engagement:

  1. Synthetic grass soccer pitch with draw nets (between the gym and the playground)
  2. Junior sensory inclusion space (gym end of Prep terrace)

We are in the final stages of the procurement process and hope to have the pitch and flooring for the inclusion space installed early in 2024.

In addition:

  1. Research bike rack solutions during 2023 and raise funds for this in 2024/25 as the need for spaces increases

This will certainly be on the Environment and Facilities agenda for 2024, with a growing population of children riding bikes and scooters.

  1. Early 2024, seek personal donations or alternative methods to fund 3 or 4 portable air conditioning units for the ground floor of the Discovery Building

We are currently seeking funding support for this, through our local MP, Nina Taylor. Mel Jones has been championing this for us over the past 6 months.

ENVIRONMENT AND FACILITIES UPDATE

Boom Gate: Parks Victoria and the Victorian Schools Building Authority are in talks regarding this. I am very hopeful of an outcome in the first half of 2024. I continue to bring any near misses to the attention of the Department as a significant safety issue.

Shade sail: Unfortunately, the installers ran into some complexities when installation began. The number of poles has now been reduced and we are awaiting approval of the new umbrella style design.

EVENTS AND FUNDRAISING

COLOUR RUN

We had so much fun at the colour run yesterday! The event was organised by Louise Pedersen, as a way to give back to the community and celebrate the end of our school year. Thank you to the parents who volunteered and helped make the event a success!

We are indebted to Louise Pedersen for her leadership of the Events and Fundraising sub-committee this year. She has gone above and beyond for our school and brings a passion unsurpassed. Thank you, Louise, from our entire community! We hope to see lots of new faces on the sub-committee for 2024.

Have a safe and relaxing break everyone! We’ll see you back on Tuesday, 30th January.
