Principal's Report - Student Leaders

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you 2023 Captains

As the year draws to a close, we would like to thank our school captains and house captains for their contributions towards improving and leading our school. Every one of you have gone above and beyond to display our school values of Care, Collaboration and Commitment and lead all students to achieving their personal excellence at ACS. Whether it be public speaking during assemblies, welcoming community members at gates, running activities on sports days or working together to achieve a goal, you have always put your best foot forward. To our Year 6 captains and our secondary Fanning house captain, Manisha, we will miss you and wish you all the best with your future endeavours. To Clem, Maddy and Deklin, we look forward to watching you flourish even more next year.

Thank you SRC

Thank you to our Semester 1 and Semester 2 Student Representative Council reps for their contribution to improving student life at ACS. 2023 SRC reps developed student voice lunch time clubs, our ACS Problem Solving Wheel, named learning spaces, facilitated discussions during student Step Up lunches and supported the launch of our ACS Norm #1 – Line up single file in line order. We hope that you have enjoyed your role as a student leader and continue the same trajectory in leading others in 2024 and beyond.

Student Leadership in 2024

With 2024 right on our doorstep, we are excited by the prospect of a selection of new student leaders stepping into our school captain, house captain and SRC rep roles. We will continue with the same captain structure of:

5 x school captains (4 x Primary, 1 x Secondary)

3 x house captains for each house

Over the last couple of weeks, aspiring leaders in our Year 5 cohort have been busy developing and delivering speeches to attain leadership positions in 2024.  Whilst there are a limited number of captain roles, we are especially proud of this cohort of students. Many of these students began their schooling journey as the first group of ACS Prep students in 2018. Next year, these students will be our first Year 6 graduates who have completed a full 7 years of primary education at Armstrong Creek School. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you and are thrilled to have you as our Year 6 leaders next year. We would like to congratulate the following students on their appointment to school and house captain roles in 2024:

2024 Year 6 School Captains:

  • Fred Oxley
  • Violet Szirom
  • Taliah Zammit
  • Enjay Kabylakis

Year 6 House Captains:

Hollows: Billie Johannson-Waites, Mikayla Zimnyckyj

Fearnley: Amaia Shea, Jireh Brown

Nolan: Elaina Laurie, Harper Rutkowski

Fanning: Jack Burgess, Olivia Bailey

It is important to note, that our 2024 student leadership team will continue to grow as our Secondary school captain and house captains will be selected in early Term 1, 2024. Our Senior Secondary students completed Term 4 early in December, so the selection process is yet to be complete. We look forward to hearing their speeches and appointing students to these positions very early in the year.
