Amazing Digital Resources at Your Local Public Library
No time to visit your local library?
You can still enjoy an incredible range of free digital resources from Frankston City Libraries and Mornington Peninsula Libraries.
You may already know about BorrowBox for eBooks and audiobooks, but did you know it also offers ePress? ePress gives you access to a huge range of Melbourne, Australian and international newspapers. You can even receive free daily digital editions of publications such as The Age and Herald Sun straight to your account. It also includes a wide selection of popular magazines.
Looking to cut back on streaming subscriptions? Services such as Hoopla, Kanopy and Freegal Music are all available free with your library membership.
For these and many more fantastic resources, visit your local public library — in person or online!
Lunchtime
The Library has been a very busy place since the cooler weather arrived!
Due to number restrictions (for the space), we have introduced a ticket system for entry at lunchtime. Students can collect a ticket from one of the librarians at 12.45pm, which guarantees them access when the Library opens at 1.00pm. This means students don’t need to queue outside in the rain just to secure a spot — yes, we really are that popular!
Resident author – Brendan Murray
Did you know Frankston High School has our own resident author?
English teacher Mr Brendan Murray recently launched his new memoir ‘Childhood’.
‘Childhood is a vital and deeply personal investigation into how we can help children find their place in the world, drawn from Brendan’s profound and unique perspective as a child, teacher and parent’.
Mr Murray also generously runs the FHS Writers Club. We have a selection of Mr Murray's books available in the Library or you can find out more here.
Celebrating IDAHOBIT day
IDAHOBIT stands for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination, and Transphobia. Observed annually on May 17, it celebrates LGBTQIA+ people globally and raises awareness for the work still needed to combat discrimination and violence. We have a wide range of LGBTQIA+ books in the Library, identified by a rainbow sticker.
