St Joseph's Athletics Carnival
Students will participate in Athletic events and activities at the Lar Birpa Athletics Complex in Flora Hill. Please see PAM for all student information.
Competing in Athletics is essential for students' physical, mental, and academic development. Here are some key reasons why all students should participate in athletics:
- Physical Health: Athletics promotes cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and flexibility, contributing to a healthy body and reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
- Mental Well-being: Participation in sports improves cognitive functions such as memory, problem-solving, and resilience, which are crucial for academic success.
- Teamwork and Discipline: Athletics fosters teamwork, discipline, and the ability to handle both success and failure, preparing students for future challenges.
- Life Skills: Students learn valuable life skills such as time management, discipline, and stress management through athletics.
Division Cross Country and Fun Run Results
Well done to all our students who participated in the Cross Country Event on May 22.
We had fantastic results in all Divisions, and all students should be very proud of their effort.
Congratulations to Podium winners - Lenny B 1st (12B), Ned B 3rd (12B), Sebastian S 2nd (9B), Laylah K 2nd (9G) and Easton M 3rd (9B). Our 12boys in Green were also the team winners in their group - well done!
Health and PE Focus - Healthy Eating
All Classes have been discussing the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating, focussing on the first 3 guidelines.
Guideline 1 - To achieve and maintain a healthy weight, be physically active and choose amounts of nutritious food and drinks to meet your energy needs.
Guideline 2 - Enjoy a wide variety of nutritious foods from these five groups every day.
Guideline 3 - limit intake of foods containing saturated fat, added salt, added sugars and alcohol.
