Principal's Update

St Joseph's is a child-safe school.

We promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all students.

Good Afternoon all ...

As winter well and truly arrived this week, bringing cold temperatures and plenty of rain, I would like to commend our students on how well they have adapted to our wet weather timetable during break times.  Their flexibility and positive attitude have been wonderful to see.

I would also like to wish all families a safe and relaxing long weekend.

Please remember that tomorrow is a Student Free Day, allowing all staff across CESL schools to engage in professional learning.

Enrolments for 2027

It is essential that all current families with a child starting school next year submit an enrolment application as soon as possible. Timely applications are critical to support accurate planning, staffing, and resource allocation for 2027.

School Uniform Update

We continue to work closely with our new school uniform supplier, and I appreciate your patience during this time.  It has been fantastic to see families making great use of the second-hand uniform options and utilising the parent Facebook page to source items. Please be reassured that we are very close to finalising arrangements.

In the meantime, our priority is that every child is warm and comfortable, so if this means wearing an alternative jumper or track pants, that is absolutely fine.  We simply ask that, where possible, items remain in line with our school colours.

Free health, wellbeing & development checks for Foundation Students

All Foundation students will receive an envelope from the Department of Education Primary School Nurse Program.  This program aims to assist in the early identification of children with potential health and development relating learning difficulties and offers screening which may include hearing, vision, speech, oral health, motor skills and behaviour and social skills.

The Primary School Nurse also provides advice, information and referrals to other health and support services.

Please complete the questionnaire by Friday June 12, 2026.  The Primary School Nurse will be visiting St Joseph's the week of June 16 - 22.  Students meet with the Primary School Nurse in groups of 2 or 3 students at a time.  Again, if you have any concerns or questions, please contact the school office.

If you require further information, please contact the school office.

NB If you do not wish for your child to participate in the service, please indicate 'NO' in the online questionnaire.

Repeat - Drive Through Pickup Reminder

I have noticed some cars joining the Gladstone Street drive-through at pick-up time in an unsafe manner.  If all spaces are full, please continue driving and rejoin the queue when it is safe to do so.  The same rule applies for those joining the Breen Street pick-up queue.

Please do not stop with your vehicle extending into oncoming traffic.

For safety and efficiency, parents are asked to remain in their cars at all times.  Vehicles will be moved through in groups of four at Gladstone Street and groups of three at Breen Street.  Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep everyone safe.
