Sport & PE
With Kathryn and Dave
Prep and Grade 1 students spent time with Kathryn in PE on Thursday focusing on basketball dribbling. By practicing bouncing the ball with both their dominant and non-dominant hands, students are building essential hand-eye coordination, improving balance, and activating both sides of the brain to develop bilateral motor skills.

Basketball has been the focus in Year 4-6 PE with Dave for the second half of this term. After sessions focused on dribbling and passing, this week we focused on shooting and bringing the skills together in some short games. We learnt about using BEEF as an acronym to help us develop our shooting techni (Balance, Eyes, Elbow, Flick).

PLEASE NOTE, WE HAVE DECIDED, DUE TO LACK OR SNOW, TO MOVE OUR DOWNHILL SNOW PROGRAM INTO TERM 3. WE ARE CURRRENTLY AWAITING CONFIRMATION WITH A NEW START DATE.
Fingers and toes crossed that Pete the Snow Dragon works his magic and brings plenty of snow to Falls Creek! After several postponements, we are hopeful that our downhill snow program will commence from Term 3, week 2, however families are reminded to please keep an eye on Compass for any program updates.
Snow Program Update - Due to ski lessons not finishing until 3pm, the bus will not return to school until 4pm or soon after, so students who usually catch the bus home from school will need to have alternate arrangements.
We are fortunate to have several wonderful local businesses that can assist with equipment and clothing hire, including Ski Plus, Kiewa Valley Snowsports and Rocky Valley, all conveniently located in Tawonga South. To ensure a smooth and stress-free start to the program, please visit your chosen ski shop in advance to organise any required hire equipment. This allows staff to have everything prepared and ready for collection on Tuesday evening before the program begins.
Students will require:
Skiers will also require:
Snowboarders are required, as directed by the Department of Education, to wear wrist guards, unless we receive written request by families (experienced snowboarders only).
We also recommend packing a change of clothes and extra warm layers in case clothing becomes wet or weather conditions change throughout the day.
Warm, dry skiers and snowboarders are happy skiers and snowboarders!
If you have any questions, please speak with a member of our staff team.
