Dear Parents,
Grandparents/Special Friends Day was a massive day for the school. We had record numbers attending with our students’ sharing activities and their school with their special friend or grandparents. I had lots of great feedback on the day from everyone.
There was also a parade of students dressed up for Book character dress up day.
Special thanks to our school leaders that put together a speech and greeted everyone, our parents and friends club (Jade and Jasmine) for putting on a sausage sizzle and selling everything, Sandy for baking and finally the teacher aides and office staff that helped man the Book Fair. Special, Special thanks to Cheryl for running the Book Fair. Any money raised will go straight back into our own school library.

One of our biggest nights for the year is our Prep Information Night; where we invite families who might want to enrol for Prep 2027 and show off the school. We had the biggest numbers we have ever had, and it was simply wonderful to see so many people interested in the school. A big thanks to our Prep team, Sandy, Mrs Eckhardt, Mrs Menta and Glenn for feeding us and for putting on a brilliant night.
As I said in my last newsletter the AEU has some rolling work bans and planned strike action ahead for this term. There was an offer accepted by the AEU, it now however needs to be voted on by staff across the state. Therefore, bans do remain in place. The ban that will affect our school the most is that half year reports will have no report comments from the teacher. Parents will still receive a report with a mark showing students progress/capability. But will not have any comments.
Any parents that are worried about their child’s progress can email their teacher to set up a meeting.
Teachers from Carey Grammar visited our 5/6 rooms this week to have a look at how we teach spelling across the grades. Our students and teachers did a wonderful job as they always do when we get visiting schools.
It is our responsibility to help the system wherever we can, which is why we let other schools come and see what we do and how we get great results.
Last Wednesday our grade two students shared their dreamtime stories with their parents. We were very lucky to have Aunty Joy attend, where she led a traditional smoking ceremony and a speech to engage our kids with their work

Have a great weekend and remember to escape to the wonderful world of a book. Not a lot of time to read at the moment so I’m still reading Pilbara. If you are a cats supporter I’m sorry that you will running into the gathering storm that is the mighty Blues. Two wins in a row and the lid is well and truly off.

See you around the school
