Discovery Day at Marian College: Exploring STEM and Food Technology

On Friday 31 May, St. Peter's Primary School visited Marian College for an exciting Discovery Day. Students engaged in hands-on STEM and Food Technology activities, guided by our expert teachers and student leaders.

The day began in the Science lab, where primary students conducted experiments wearing lab coats under the supervision of our Science Technician and student leaders. They observed reactions and asked questions, making the experience both educational and engaging.

In Food Technology, students partnered to make chocolate balls, emphasising teamwork and safe kitchen practices with hair nets and gloves. They enjoyed creating and tasting their sweet treats.

The day concluded with STEM activities where students programmed Sphero robots to navigate mazes and perform tricks, guided by our Learning Technologies Leader and student mentors.

Throughout the day, primary students explored our state-of-the-art Trade Training Centre, Gymnasium, and Design Warehouse, experiencing the welcoming and supportive environment fostered by our teachers and student leaders. This allowed them to gain a comprehensive understanding of what they can look forward to in their future educational journey.

Teachers and students from St. Peter's Primary School were delighted with the day, leaving with a sense of excitement and enthusiasm for our school. Each primary student received a Marian backpack containing information about the school and their creations from the day.

Discovery Day was a great success, providing a platform for primary students to explore new horizons and discover the exciting opportunities at our school. We eagerly look forward to welcoming more young learners to participate in future events, continuing to inspire a love for learning and discovery.
