Marian College – Leo Club 2008
The Marian Leos Club is still going strong in 2024. Looking back to 2008 we can see the wide range of activities this socially conscious group was involved in, even in their second year of operation.
It has been one year since the Marian Leos club was established and our commitment to serve is still strong.
During the year we have been involved with fund raising for many different charities and organisations such as the R.S.P.C.A, beyondblue, greenpeace and National Breast Cancer Fund. The club has been holding fortnightly barbeques, chocolate drives and selling roses on Valentines Day to continuously raise money.
The Marian Leos have also been assisting the local community and the Brigidines by donating to the Marian College special fund, The Brigidine Association Relief Fund and also Sister Martin for her generous work hosting refugees.
Also, the club is striving to help anywhere they can, hence they have handed a $500 dollar cheque to Lions International to help with the China Earthquake relief.
Other than raising money, members of the Leos Club have volunteered in additional activities outside of school. These include the Easter show, Licola camp for underprivileged children and tree planting. By participating in these activities the members have met many extraordinary people and also developed a deeper understanding of what they do as a Marian Leo.
The latest project that the Marian Leos have decided to organise is a charity event that is held to raise money for Women’s battling Cancer. The event, ‘Girls Night In’ is open for Marian College students, their female family members, and friends. For more information, please refer to future editions of the Marian News.
Recently, the new 2008 members of Marian Leos were officially recognized with a Charter Night. With the increasing numbers of dedicated Leos, more achievements are to be expected.
As the year progresses, the Marian Leos will continue to sustain their hard work and commitment, hoping to do the best they can to be able to serve others.
