LEADERSHIP TEAM

Mr. Justin Matt, Mr. Brad Vallance, Mr. Josh Willersdorf

Dear Red Cliffs Secondary College Community,

We are pleased to report a calm and positive start to the second semester. As we progress through this term, it’s a valuable time for us all to reflect on the first semester, celebrate our successes, and identify areas where we can improve. By adopting a growth mindset, we can make meaningful adjustments that enhance our learning experiences and continue to build our knowledge within our school community.

Our recent tertiary trip was a great success for our Year 11 and 12 students. The experience provided invaluable insights into post-secondary education options and inspired our students to envision their futures with greater clarity and ambition, big thank you to Don Mayne, Alana Collier & David Laity for supervising the students.

Our subject selection evenings for senior students for 2025 were well-attended and productive. We have sent out information to all senior student families regarding their intentions for the next academic year. This information is critical for our planning, and we would greatly appreciate its prompt return. Please see link below to access the form digitally. https://forms.office.com/r/bQG16j6zEV

We continue to emphasize the importance of consistent attendance. Every day counts in a student's educational journey, and maintaining regular attendance is crucial for academic success. We are here to support our students and have provided strategies to ensure they attend school regularly.

Our school review is scheduled for early August. We extend our thanks to the School Council and other parents and carers who will be dedicating their time to speak with the review panel. Your insights will help shape our new strategic plan and ensure it reflects our community’s needs and aspirations.

Next week, we will be distributing our parent opinion survey via email. We strongly encourage all parents and carers to participate and provide feedback. Historically, our response rate has been low, and we are eager to improve this to gather more comprehensive data. Your input is invaluable in helping us enhance our school environment.

We are pleased to report that our student attitudes to school survey, is showing positive trends. We have seen improvement in all aspects of our data, indicating that we are moving in the right direction.

We held our House Athletics carnival, and it was a fantastic display of school spirit and athletic talent. Our students participated with enthusiasm and supported each other, showcasing the true spirit of Red Cliffs Secondary College. Congratulations to all who competed and contributed to making the day a memorable success.

We are incredibly proud of Jeremy Hensgen, George Eastwood, and Marie Kiernan, who are all members of the Sunraysia Premier League Darts Club and highly competitive players. Jeremy and George have been selected by the Junior Darts Corporation (JDC) to be part of the Australian team competing in Gibraltar later this year. Jeremy is ranked number 1, and George is ranked number 2 in the team. This is a fantastic opportunity, and we as a community should be extremely proud of their accomplishments.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our school community. Together, we can make this semester a period of growth and achievement for all our students.

Kind regards,

Justin Matt

Executive Principal
