Class Celebrations

Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...

Prep

The Preps have returned from their holidays, ready for an amazing second half of the year. The teachers are thrilled with how well every student is able to follow school routines. Whether it's sitting on the mat with our whiteboards to start the day or walking down the stairs at the end of the day, everyone is following the school expectations. The more we practise these routines, the more automatic they become. This allows us to use our brains to learn new things, and with all the time we save, we have even more opportunities to learn and play. It’s a win-win!

Year 1

In Year 1, our students have been learning about turn taking, making new friends and how to play nicely with one another. During our Circle Solutions lessons, our students have been explicitly learning the skills required to get along. They then have the opportunity to practice these skills with the support of their teachers. Our students have really enjoyed the chance to work with other students in the Grade One classes.

Year 2

In Humanities, our Year 2 students have been learning about Jakarta Tales. These tales have important messages that we can learn from. We read a tale about a frightened rabbit. In this story, the rabbit was frightened by a loud noise which made him think the world was breaking apart. He scared other animals who ran with them in the direction of a cliff. The lion stopped them and helped them to find out that the noise was a fallen coconut. The message in this story was to gather all of the facts before acting. Our Year 2 students showed their creative flair when making stick puppets and retelling the story in groups.

Year 3

The Year 3 students have settled back in smoothly after the holidays and are excited to dive into their new curriculum units. This term, our English unit focuses on "Our Solar System and Beyond." The students have shown so much enthusiasm and curiosity for this topic, eagerly sharing their impressive prior knowledge and fun facts about space. William (3A) said 'I'm really excited to learn about space so that I can find out more about what is outside of Earth. I really want to find out how many universes there are.'

Year 4

This week, our Year 4 students were thrilled to participate in the exciting Fizz Kidz in-visit! Aligned with our science unit on Matter, we explored the three main states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas. We delved into the different molecular movements within each state. We created slime, which demonstrates matter in a semi-solid state. This in-visit not only enhanced our understanding of science but also contributed to a wonderful community of students and a lot of collaborative learning.

Year 5

The Year 5 students have had a great start back to Term 3. We have started our new novel called ‘The Boy at the of the Class’ and we are all already hooked in by it! The Boy at the Back of the Class is a child's perspective on the refugee crisis, highlighting the importance of friendship and kindness in a world that doesn't always make sense. The narrator Alexa is keeping us entertained with her humorous character and event descriptions.

Year 6

We are excited to share the highlights of our recent activities and learning adventures! In English, we have started reading the novel 47 Degrees, which has themes of the Australian fires that have happened in Australia over the recent years.

In Science, we have started our unit on 'Light and Shadows'. The students are enthusiastic about the hands-on activities to come, and we are thrilled to announce that at the end of the unit, each student will create their very own shadow show. This promises to be a creative and educational experience for everyone involved.

Meanwhile, in Maths, our focus has shifted to exploring the concepts of area and perimeter. The students are actively engaging in problem-solving exercises to understand these fundamental principles.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to sharing more of our learning journey in the coming weeks!
