SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY.

Mental health is a broad term that refers to one's emotional, psychological and social wellbeing. It affects how we think, feel and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress and even relate to others. Mental health is important at every stage, from childhood through to adulthood.

At Mount Carmel College we aim to empower our students and staff to talk about mental health, whether it be aiming to set them up with a toolkit of strategies, or even simply allowing a safe space to seek help. We know that taking care of your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health.

A couple of weeks ago now our school community joined together to raise valuable funds for SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY. This is a non-for-profit organisation that works to promote positive mental health. From throwing sponges at some wonderful staff who kindly volunteered themselves to be drenched to wearing shorts on the shortest and what felt like the coldest day of the year. Together we raised $673.70 which is a wonderful achievement.

Even though this event has ended for another year, let's continue with the conversation of mental health and strive to empower those around us and even ourselves to speak up and stay chatty!
