Creative Arts

Mrs Catherine Wood - Music & Drama Teacher

What's Been Happening in Creative Arts This Semester?

The Amadeus Classroom Program integrates Music, Drama and Dance. The room is always a hive of activity where students are encouraged to experiment with their ideas creatively in a safe environment.

Year 1 created some amazing drama based on the theme of Kings and Queens featuring the music of Handel’s Water Music and Zadok the Priest, a choral work commonly used for the coronation of Kings and Queens in England.

Year 2 made “Ocean Drums” and created colourful and atmospheric music for The Lonesome Boatman, and notated it using Graphic Notation.

Stage 3 composed and performed a small group composition, using a Haiku as inspiration. Students collaborated to decide on appropriate instruments. They composed and notated rhythms and melodic fragments and organised the structure for the composition.

Students reflected on each other's compositions/performances and discussed how the music reflected the

mood of the Haiku.

I look forward to sharing news of other grades in future newsletters.
