Junior School Report

What is Happening in Junior School

This has been a long term for our Junior School students, some not having experienced 11 weeks of school in a row for a very long time.

As a Junior School team we have seen a lot of positives out of the adversity that this long term has presented us with.

Whether it be small acts of kindness from our students to each other and the staff members such as sharing snacks and huddling for warmth in the cold months to assisting with school work and helping out with the variety of end of term projects that the students have undertaken.

Our Year 7 students had the opportunity to view and analyse 'Inside Out 2 ', the movie.  The key themes were discussed in detail in health class.

This gave the students a massive insight into all the emotions and challenges they might face

during their high school Journey.

Our Year 8 students were able to present work produced in Maths and Science classes this semester to guest judges and speakers at KIOSC in a fun 'quick-fire' format at a communication conference.

At KIOSC the students also explored new concepts in the world of science and participated in fun experiments.   This will lead into the work the students will begin next term after their well-deserved break.

The Junior School team would like to wish all students, parents/guardians an enjoyable two week break.

We can’t wait to see what great things are in store for Term 3.

Semester 2 commences at the beginning of Term 3, please refer to your Compass timetable for class changes.

ABCN Goals Excursion

A cohort of Year 9 students recently travelled to Southbank to complete a “Goals” program being run by mentors from Price Water House Cooper

The students worked with their mentors to develop interview skills with the goal of confidently undertaking an interview for a part-time job.

Students were treated to a catered “working lunch” as they worked with their mentors developing a “pitch” for landing a part time job.

Here is what the students had to say about the day:

I loved seeing the environment of the beautiful PWC building

Bella Foden

It was fun to have a real-life catered lunch”  Jackson Matthews, Leroy Murphy

It helped me to know what to expect when I try to get my first job”
