What is Happening in Science?

In Year 7, our students have been exploring our place in space.

There was an excursion to KIOSC where students explored how could we live and work on Mars.

Students explored the surface of Mars using Virtual Reality; coded a drone to mimic a real NASA mission, replicating Ingenuity’s flights on Mars; hypothesized then tested the best insulating materials for colonization on a cold planet.

Back in the classroom they learnt about the solar system, the reason for the seasons and the phases of the moon using Oreo’s to make a model of each stage.

Year 8 students have continued investigating a number of different body systems, wrapping-up with them developing an educational story on how their favourite food makes its way through the digestive system as a way of educating younger students.

Year 9 students used their knowledge of human impact on ecosystems to commit to changing their lives to reduce their footprint on the world.

In Year 10, they have been discovering the applications of genetics and used their knowledge to become the proud owners of young vegetable people.
