Principals Report

by Helen Freeman

Wow! It is hard to believe that we are halfway through the school year. It again has been an action-packed term with lots of great learning for our students and some fantastic events, from sports days to incursions and excursions.

The excitement has been building regarding the move into the new building which is beginning tomorrow. We are grateful that we have several parents plus Charlie Kenez and Eric Huppe able to assist with the move tomorrow. The new building will house all the administration offices including the First Aid room plus 6 classrooms. The classes moving to these new classrooms for the remainder of this year will be the Foundation and Year 1 students. In 2025, our Year 2 students will also be housed in the building. As you would be aware the project will not be finalised until the remainder of Block A has been demolished and the landscaping complete which will begin in the upcoming school holidays. The school will be out of bounds during the school holidays due to asbestos removal. In relation to the demolition of Block A, the school crossing will not be available until further notice, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause

Just to update you on two other projects that have been completed recently, all classroom have been fitted with reverse cycle air conditioners and the toilets in the BER have been reinstated.

Aerobics

Congratulations to our Aerobics Team who competed last Saturday in the FISAF Australia State Championships. All teams did a spectacular job on stage culminating in medals for all the teams. The team’s success now means that all our teams will be participating in the FISAF National Championships at the end of August in Brisbane. The teams are now practising hard for the upcoming FISAF Future Championship Cup on the weekend of the 17th August at Rowville. Go Syndal!!

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Thank you to the staff and parents who met on Monday night to discuss their child’s first semester report. This time is always a great opportunity to touch base and discuss your child’s progress, especially for those parents who cannot always get to the school regularly.

School Policy Consultation and Updates

At Syndal South Primary School, we regularly review and update our policies and procedures to ensure they meet Department standards. The School Council recently reviewed our school’s Homework Policy and Student Dress Code Policy. These are available to view below and have been uploaded onto the school website.

We are committed to continuous improvement in all our approaches and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on policies, procedures, and practices. Policies currently under consultation and/or review can be found in the School Policy Consultation and Update section of the newsletter.

If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions, please contact our school office on 9802 5277 to be directed to the appropriate staff member.

Finally, those of you going away for the holidays I wish you safe travels and for everyone else I hope you enjoy a safe and restful break. I look forward to seeing everyone returning for the start of Term 3 on Monday 15th July.

Have a great holiday break.

Helen
