In the first week of this term, Foundation, Year One, Two, Three, and Four students celebrated the Tanabata Festival (known as the Star Festival).
The festival is based on the legend where two stars fall in love but are separated by the Milky Way. The Cowherd Star (Altair) and the Weaver Star (Vega) are allowed to meet just once a year—on the seventh night of the seventh month.
Year One, Two, Three, and Four students wrote their wishes on strips of paper called Tanzaku and hung them on bamboo branches.
Foundation students also made seven coloured decorations, drawing their wishes and writing the number 7 (t) in Japanese.
