Leadership @ MPS

Welcome to Term 3

We have had a fantastic start to Term 3 and are still scratching our heads as to how we are already over halfway through the year! Students and classes have settled back in well after the break and we have a very busy and exciting term ahead.

Please make sure to stay on top of reading Compass Newsfeeds, as well as our fortnightly newsletter, to ensure that families are staying on top of the many things which are planned.

Staffing Updates

As some of your children have no doubt passed on, our new school nurse Lauren Kelly started in first aid this week. Lauren has worked for over 13 years as a registered nurse across several different settings, most recently treating lots of children at Hurstbridge Medical Centre. She is being shown the ropes by Michelle and is starting to build fantastic relationships with our students, staff and families.

It was Dan's final day with us here at Montmorency Primary today. We would like to thank him for his hard work over the past 12 months and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours. As of Monday, Michelle will move across to the office in an administration role while Lauren officially takes over in first aid.

We also welcome Mikayla Johnson to Monty Primary, we are thrilled to announce that she will be teaching 3/4A for the remainder of 2024. Some of you may recognise Mikayla as she had a placement during the first Semester of this year with Miss Zoe in Foundation. It has been great to bring someone in who is already familiar with the school, staff, students and programs and protocols. We again give a huge thanks to both Sophie Wilson and Elise Greaves for their dedication and support of 3/4A during Term 2. We are sure that Mikayla will do a fantastic job to finish 2024.

Ady Wall has also started back at school, in a staggered approach as per her return-to-work plan. She is lending support to Lucinda Thom in the Wellbeing and Disability Inclusion space - it is wonderful have Ady back with us.

Pedestrian Safety

We have seen and had several reports to both leadership and the office about students, and families, walking through the staff carpark at the beginning and end of school days. This is a major safety concern for the school and the area has been highlighted as on OHS issue.

Please speak to your children about using the pedestrian crossings and safe paths of travel which are present throughout the school grounds and its surroundings. It is also important that the adults of our school community model these expected behaviours.
