My Team Vic AFL U12 Experience

Hi my name is Xavier, I’m in Grade 6.  Recently I participated in the SSV Team Vic program with 800 participants from other schools. The ultimate goal for everyone was to make the team.

There were 4 stages in the program: the first stage was District, second stage was the Northern, third stage was the State Metro and the last stage was the State Combined Country and Metro stage.

In the first stage there were 84 trialists from my district, and I was one of 21 players to get through. This trial was luckily held at my home ground at Waterview Oval in Mernda. Like the first stage the Northern stage was the same deal, although it was held at the Latrobe University grounds in Bundoora.

Now, for the 3rd stage, it was a nice sunny day in Mornington. However, it was a long drive from South Morang, my home, but it was worth it, because as a result I made it through to the next stage.

Last stage, which was the best Metropolitan and Country kids in Victoria. It wasn't the best conditions to play football but we had to suck it up and deal with it. We played a couple games of 20-minute quarters for the selectors to finally pick the team. The whole day I played at my very best and set some very good play up for my other teammates.

The next day at school I was with Mr. Scanu and Mr. Falcone in their office, we were checking the lists to see if I made it or not. Then I saw my name, I made the team, I was so happy and relieved that all my hard work had finally paid off.

I am so grateful and appreciative to Mr Scanu, Mr Falcone, my parents, sister and twin brother for all their support and guidance. I hope to make everyone proud and one day make it to the big league!

Lost Property

We currently have an excessive amount of lost property, most without names. Can we please ask that all families ensure that all items of clothing worn to school are appropriately labelled.
