Josephine Ho's Northern Metropolitan Region Cross Country Championship Success!

We are thrilled to share the outstanding achievement of one of our own, Josephine Ho from Year 5, who recently competed at the Northern Metropolitan Region Cross Country Championships. The event took place on Wednesday, June 19th, at the Kilmore race track, where Josephine showcased her remarkable talent and determination.

In a highly competitive race, Josephine excelled, finishing in an impressive 2nd place, just missing out on the top spot by a mere 2 seconds. This is a phenomenal accomplishment, especially considering the challenging 2km course she had to navigate. Her performance is a testament to her hard work, perseverance, and athletic prowess.

Josephine's success at the regional level means she will now advance to represent Our Lady's Primary School at the Victorian State Cross Country Championships. This prestigious event will be held on Thursday, July 18th, at the Yarra Valley Racing Club. We are incredibly proud of Josephine and wish her the best of luck as she prepares for this next exciting challenge.

Please join us in congratulating Josephine on her incredible achievement and in cheering her on as she takes on the state’s best runners next month. Go, Josephine!

The Ranch Year 6 Camp

On the 17th of June, the Year 6s went to The Ranch Camp along the Mornington Peninsula. Our goal for the camp was to grow our resilience and take steps out of our comfort zone. Resilience is being brave and bouncing back from challenges. On the first day, we managed to do many enjoyable activities. Some examples were archery, hut building, and rock climbing. The camp cooked delicious meals which we all enjoyed in the Chapel. We ended our first night with a torch-lit night walk throughout the farmland.

After a nights rest, we continued the fun with activities such as the giant swing, the flying fox and horse riding. During the activity of horse riding, we saw amazing views of the farmland and we enjoyed meeting the lovely horses. Lots of people were able to overcome their fears of heights on the flying fox and giant swing. The teachers also organised some activities like trivia, making smores on the fire and a movie night. We watched Cool Runnings, which was based on a true story.

At the end of the Camp, the Mascot Rancher was given to Sama because she showed resilience throughout the Camp. We thank the staff members for organising this amazing experience for the year 6’s.

“Some new skills I learnt at camp were survival skills, like how to build a hut and how to work together with people that you may not know.” - Liana Suliman

“My favorite thing that I did at camp was the giant swing. It helped me overcome my fear of heights.” -Olivia Ferrante
