Senior Years Update

What a wonderful Semester it has been. Congratulations to our Year 11 students who have completed their Semester 1 examinations and congratulations to all our students on a fantastic HPA performance last week. It was fantastic to see the students time management, delegation and leadership skills on display next to their amazing creative talents in music, dance, art and drama.

Year 12

Our Year 12 students have begun an exciting project recording their feelings about their final year, reflecting on their Shelford education and looking to the future. A select group of students were able to have a session of expert coaching from Claire Halliday, a well-known and respected writer, journalist and interviewer. This session equipped them with vital interview techniques and tips to help them interview their classmates. Over the next few weeks students are taking the time to conduct interviews and capture a snapshot of the Class of 2024. These interviews will be used to create a presentation for the Valedictory Dinner, but also an important archival tribute to their graduating class. We are thankful to Claire for sharing her valuable experience, so we may capture and document the Class of 2024.

Year 11

Our Year 11 students have now completed their first lot of examinations for the year. To follow on from their examinations students will be engaging in a reflective session on their approach to the examinations focusing on a strength-based coaching model. Students will develop STRONG goals following this session to help them focus on their studies in Semester 2.

  • STRENGTHS: What do I already do well that can help me achieve this goal? What am I good at that might provide ideas for how to approach this challenge?
  • TIMED: What timeframe do I have to achieve this? How can I break this timeframe into smaller check points so that I am making and seeing consistent progress?
  • RELEVANT: What is the reason behind this goal, what is the purpose and meaning for approaching this challenge?
  • OPTIONS: What ways can I approach this? Is there more than one way? What are the benefits and costs of each possible approach?
  • NETWORKS: Who do I have that can help me? What supports do I already have that I can tap into?
  • GROWTH: How will I measure and ensure I evaluate my growth? What will tell me I am moving towards my goal?

We are also preparing for the first of our Year 11 incursion days, which will be an exciting end to the term. Day one will focus on Wellbeing during Transition. I would like to thank our Food Studies Team for helping to curate a healthy study snacks section on this day, this is something the girls are really looking forward to.
