Attendance

Attendance (Repeat)

Regular school attendance is an important way to ensure that your child is receiving the best education possible.  Maximising their time at school will mean that they don’t have to catch up on missed lessons, that they continue to build great relationships with peer and teachers, and that they have the opportunity to build a positive approach to school and learning. Every day that a student is absent from school will affect their education and relationships.

Illness is unavoidable but, as a parent, you can assist your child in their educational journey by:

  • Helping your child to be ON TIME to school each day;
  • Encouraging regular attendance; and by

  • If your child has missed more than 10 days this semester – The amount of time your child is missing will impact on their learning and their friendships;
  • If your child has missed more than 15 days this semester – Your child is missing so much time from school that it will be extremely difficult for them to keep up with their learning, their friendships and to feel connected to school.

Remember that all absences need to be communicated to the College and, in some cases, pre-approved under the Tasmanian legislation. This can be done through:

If you would like to discuss any attendance issues and find out how we can support you to encourage regular attendance in your children, please talk to your child’s teacher or contact the office for a phone conversation or appointment with me.
