Hands on Learning (HoL)
Celebrating a Wonderful Semester 1 & Looking Ahead
Semester 1 has been an amazing journey for our Hands on Learning team, filled with achievements, teamwork and plenty of fun along the way. Our students:
- Assisted with set building for the Chicago production,
- Supplied summer vegetables to the staff room market stall,
- Learned to make jams,
- Established a thriving compost system, rescuing waste from our school kitchens, and
- Ran four highly successful fundraisers.
All of this was done with great enthusiasm, building skills and friendships as we worked together.
Looking ahead to Semester 2, we’re excited to:
- Continue landscaping our own garden area,
- Assist with the school Indigenous garden,
- Develop new skills in carpentry and ceramics,
- Plus plenty more – watch this space!
If your child is struggling with engagement at school, needs chances for success outside of the classroom, is drawn to practical work and is in Year 7 or 8, Hands on Learning might be a great avenue for them!
It requires one day per week for a term minimum participation, at school, for a low cost with lunch provided on these days. Contact your Year Level Coordinator for more information.
A big thank you to everyone who wholeheartedly supports the Hands on Learning program – your encouragement and involvement make a huge difference.
Here’s to another wonderful semester ahead!
