Confirmation
Last week at the Sunday Parish Mass, our Confirmation candidates were commissioned by Fr Joby. These young people are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday August 31st, at St Patrick's Cathedral. This is a very special moment in their faith journey, as they prepare to be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The sacrament of confirmation will strengthen their baptismal promises and help them to become more like Jesus in the world. As our candidates prepare to take this important step, we pray that the Holy Spirit will fill them with courage, wisdom, and a deep love for God and others.
May they always feel the presence of the Holy Spirit guiding them, and may they be a light for Christ in their homes, schools, and communities. Please keep our students and catechists in your prayers as they continue on their path of faith.
Feast of St Mary MacKillop - 8th August
On August 8th, Australians celebrate a very special person: Saint Mary MacKillop.
She is Australia's very first saint, and her story is full of kindness and courage. Mary and her Sisters of Saint Joseph dedicated their lives to helping others, especially by starting schools in the bush so all children could get an education.
The feast day is a time to remember her incredible work and the lasting impact she had. It's a day to be inspired by her example of faith, compassion, and never giving up. We can follow in her footsteps by being a light to others—showing kindness to our friends, helping those in need, and standing up for what's right. Mary MacKillop showed us that one person can make a huge difference in the world, and her legacy continues to shine brightly today.
Feast of the Assumption - 15th August
On August 15th, Christians around the world celebrate a beautiful and ancient feast day: the Assumption of Mary. This special day commemorates the belief that at the end of her earthly life, Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken body and soul into heaven.
The feast of the Assumption reminds us of the hope of eternal life and the promise that one day, we too will be raised to new life. Mary's Assumption is a sign of hope for all Christians, a reminder that with God, all things are possible, and that our ultimate home is with Him in heaven.
The entire school will attend the 9:15am Parish Mass on this special feast day, and all are welcome to attend with us.
