Year 1

This term in Year 1, we’ve been busy exploring stories, seasons, and friendships through a variety of fun and creative activities!
In English, we read Hey Little Ant by Phillip and Hannah Hoose and created fantastic artworks to show perspective — the students loved thinking about the world from both a human’s and an ant’s point of view.
We also explored Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley by Aaron Blabey, using Venn diagrams to compare the two characters. These discussions inspired some lovely conversations about what it means to be a good friend, which we then reflected on in our art.
In Science, we’ve been learning about the four seasons, and in Art, we created beautiful winter star night sky scenes to match the chilly weather.
In Writing, students have been working in pairs to build sentences, focusing on using capital letters, finger spaces, and punctuation — we’re very proud of their progress!
As always, we are reminding Year 1 to walk quietly into the building and to take care of their belongings — we’ve had quite a few jackets and beanies wander into lost property lately!
