Some words from the Principal

Mrs Courtney Hoffmann

Dear Karoo PS Community,

Welcome to Week 3, Term 3.  It has been wonderful to see all our students settling back into the routines of school, enjoying their learning and looking forward to all the exciting events coming up this term, such as the Coin Challenge, Science Week, Book Week, Hoop time, Father's &Friends Breakfast, excursions, incursions, year level events and Footy Day!  What a term!

2026 Enrolments

On the 21st of July, families received offers for Foundation placement in 2026 and are currently in the process of accepting their placement at Karoo PS for 2026.  We look forward to welcoming all our new members of our school community. Acceptance is due by Friday 22nd August.  Once we have this confirmation we can finalise our planning for 2026.

If you are not returning in 2026, please notify the office as soon as possible. As you would appreciate, student numbers have a significant impact on grade structure, budgets and planning. Please see the newsletters ' 2026 enrolments' page for further Foundation 2026 information and thank you for your support.

Celebrating NAIDOC week

NAIDOC week 2025 was celebrated from July 6th to 13th July.  Due to this falling during the school holidays, for the past 3 weeks our school has been celebrating NAIDOC Week with pride, respect and creativity and it all comes together this week with our Deadly Door Competition!

Each class has decorated their door to reflect the 2025 NAIDOC theme: “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.” From bold artwork to powerful messages, our students have shown just how proud they are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history and achievements.

A big shoutout to all our classes - your doors look incredible!  Currently, voting is underway to find out our student's door of door - so stay tuned for photos of the winning design!

NAPLAN 2025

Schools have now received their NAPLAN results, and these have been available for collection from the school office this week and will be sent home to parents and carers from on Monday the 11th of August. It is important that you keep a copy of these results as you may require them for future reference when applying for secondary schooling etc.

NAPLAN measures student achievement in Numeracy, Reading, Writing, Spelling, and Grammar and Punctuation. These results are presented within four proficiency levels: Exceeding, Strong, Developing and Needs Additional Support.

As a school, we have performed exceptionally well in NAPLAN in 2025, with results across most areas performing at or above network schools. We are achieving above State in all areas across Year 3 and Year 5. The below table shows the percentage of students who are performing in the exceeding and strong proficiency levels.

Road Safety Reminder

Road safety continues to be a priority for our school to ensure the safety of our students and community.

Therefore, at drop off and pick up times, to ensure the safety of our students and families please ensure the following:

  • DO NOT park in front of any driveways, as this is prohibited and poses a risk in the event of an emergency.
  • Cars parked in the 2-minute parking bays are present for the allocated time (designed for 'drop and go' only).
  • Roundabouts are used to turn around on Karoo Rd, and cars not to make U turns near the crossing, over the single white line.

Thank you for your continued support in ensuring the safety of our community.  Please see the 'Road Safety Message' page for further information.

Have a wonderful fortnight and I look forward to seeing you around our sensational school!

Kind Regards,
