Design a House Mascot Competition

Overwhelming Response to “Design a House Mascot” Competition!

We’re thrilled to share that our Design a House Mascot competition received an overwhelming response from students across all year levels! The creativity, thought, and house spirit that went into each design was truly impressive, and it was clear that Karoo students were eager to bring their house pride to life.

After careful consideration, our Visual Arts Captains, alongside Ms. Cole and Mrs Hoffman, met to shortlist the top three entries for each house. These standout designs were then proudly displayed in the Art Room for everyone to view and admire.

Over the past week, students have been casting their votes for their favourite mascot design in each house. Once all students have had a chance to vote, the final tallies will be counted — and the winning entries revealed!

We are excited to announce that the winning House Mascots will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Karoo Karnival! Even more exciting, each winning design will be printed on our brand new House Colour flags, flying high as a symbol of creativity, teamwork, and school spirit.

Thank you to everyone who entered and supported this fantastic initiative — and stay tuned for the big reveal at the Karoo Karnival!

Performing Arts

In Performing Arts, Year 3 and 4 students have been working in groups to create their own original melodies. They then wrote short lyrics to accompany them and performed them for the teacher and their peers.

For NAIDOC Celebration, our Year 1 students (as demonstrated here by 1G) used their own stick puppets to retell the Dreamtime story TIDDALICK THE FROG.

Choir

The Choir have been working hard rehearsing their songs and some students have been developing their voice as soloists. They will be performing at the Whole School Assembly on September 12.
