Blue EDGE

Last term, a select group of Year 8–10 students took part in the Blue EDGE+ program, held every Friday for nine weeks. Delivered by Blue Light Victoria, the program was led by facilitator Tameeka Doncon in partnership with local police from Knox. It combined gym based fitness, shared meals, and workshops focused on mental wellbeing, confidence, and safe decision-making.
Each week, students completed workouts run by personal trainer Elli Kentfield, helping build physical strength, discipline, and resilience. More importantly, the program fostered positive, respectful relationships between students and local police, breaking down stereotypes and building trust through consistent, informal interactions.
A highlight was our Q&A session, where students explored a police vehicle, tested speedometers and breathalysers, and asked questions about life in law enforcement. The final week of the program was spent at Stringybark Lodge, where students and police came together for a full day of team building activities, camp cooking, and orienteering, a memorable way to finish the experience.
We extend a huge thank you to Tameeka, Elli, and the Knox police officers for their time, energy, and support throughout the program.
