Science updates

The Science department has been busy with rat dissections, catapults and exploring pH.
The year 8s have been exploring the human body and the amazing things it does to make us live, grow and repair. This resulted in a rat dissection which was met with much excitement from the year 8s last term (and some apprehension!). The year 8s have started this term with chemistry and are looking at the differences between chemical and physical changes.
The year 11 Biology classes also dissected pregnant rats last term which had students wondering how everything fits in the body during pregnancy. The year 7s have been busy finishing off the unit of Forces by making catapults. During Forces, the year 7s have look at magnets, surface tension and static electricity.
The year 9s continue to explore the topic of acid and bases by testing the acidity of oranges and lemons. We are looking forward to a busy and exciting Term 3!
