Good luck to Sam S (Year 9)- who is travelling to Japan to play in a baseball tournament. He is being billeted by a Japanese family. What a great opportunity for him both in baseball and as a life experience!

We are thrilled to share that three of our outstanding Year 8 students — Katty P, Angus M, and Charlotte D — have been recognised for their exceptional writing in the Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) English during Term 1.

Their creative pieces stood out for their originality, depth, and literary quality, and have now been selected to feature on the Victorian School of Virtual Learning (VSV) website as exemplar student work. This is a fantastic achievement that highlights not only the talent of these students but also the strong culture of excellence and creativity fostered here at Heathmont College.

We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented our school in a statewide program that challenges and extends high-ability learners.

Congratulations, Katty, Angus, and Charlotte — your hard work, passion, and creativity have truly shone through. We can’t wait to see what you write next!

Georgraphy Competition

In May, a group of Years 7-10 students participated in the 2025 Australian Geography Competition. This is an optional, national competition which involves students completing multiple choice questions for one hour. The questions are a mixture of general knowledge and geographical data interpretation. Optional academic competitions are a great way for students to follow their passions, demonstrate their willingness to try new things and boost their confidence when comparing their results to peers from across the country.

Pictured is Griffin H Year 9 who achieved a High Distinction in the competition. Well done to all students involved for having a go at something new and different!
