🌱 LITERACY

In Literacy, students will be reading chapter two of Kensuke’s Kingdom. They will be continuing to develop their reading comprehension and analysis skills through responding to comprehension questions, completing cloze activities and retelling the second chapter in both verbal and written form. In Writing, students will use their knowledge of procedural writing to compose a text explaining how to travel on a train. They will also begin to investigate factual recounts, exploring the structural and language features of the genre.Ā

To support your child at home

  • Kensuke's Kingdom: Ask your child to summarise what’s happening in chapter two of Kensuke’s Kingdom and talk about the characters, setting, and any interesting vocabulary they come across.
  • Practise procedural writing: Discuss with your child how to travel safely and respectfully on a train.
  • Read regularly: Set aside time each day for independent or shared reading and talk about the books your child is reading at school and at home.

🌱 NUMERACY

In Numeracy this week, students will revisit multiplication and division, deepening their understanding of the connection between the two operations. They will identify and solve worded problems, as well as practise solving larger multiplication equations involving single-digit multipliers. Students will also continue to develop their fluency with multiplication facts using the new website, Times Table Rock Stars.

Ā

At home, you can support your child by practising basic multiplication and division facts together and encouraging them to explain how the two operations are connected. Please also encourage your child to work on Mathletics.

Ā

🌱 CBL

In CBL this week, students will continue to explore the history of our school. We will be investigating the evolution of our school buildings.

Ā

At home, you could support your child by discussing how our school buildings have changed over time.

🌿 REMINDERS

🌱 Please assist your child in ensuring that their iPad comes to school every day, fully charged.

🌱 Check that your child has headphones which work and connect to their iPad.

🌱 We are currently missing a number of books from the Library. Can you please help your child to check if any overdue Library books are hiding with them at home.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP IN LANTANA

Please be mindful of the road signs on Lantana Road. It is a NO PARKING zone in front of the school, during school start and finish times. To ensure a smooth and safe process, we have a designated pick-up system at the end of the day where a teacher monitors and guides students into cars lined up in the queue. This system works efficiently when there are no parked cars breaching the signage during these times. Thank you for your cooperation.
