Respectful Relationships Education

Boorowa Central School continues its work with Respectful Relationships Education (RRE) in 2026. Building upon the strong foundations laid by the RRE team in 2025, we are growing RRE across all classes K-12. On the back of our presentation in Sydney to the other Case Study Schools, we have also featured as the spotlight school in the first edition of the RRE newsletter. Here is a small excerpt from the newsletter:

“In 2025, Boorowa Central School identified some key staff and priorities for RRE implementation. They are the hub of the community. In their first 6 months of implementing the RRE Program, Boorowa Central School introduced Wellbeing Wednesdays for K–12 students. These promote weekly challenges and community engagement around respect and relationships through Facebook and Compass.

The school embedded collaborative learning strategies school‑wide, focusing on Think-Pair-Share to strengthen student interaction and teacher practice. Boorowa Central School delivered professional learning during Term 4 school development day (SDD), with positive student and staff feedback leading to extended implementation opportunities. The school continues to rollout RRE curriculum resources with ongoing staff feedback, alongside targeted Stage 3 drop‑in sessions to address identified needs related to respectful behaviour toward staff.”

RRE in 2026 at Boorowa Central School:

Students in K-6 will begin 20 minute lessons on RRE concepts starting Term 2. Students will interact with peers to make meaningful, respectful connections while accessing developmentally appropriate resources.

In Stage 4, students will complete RRE based activities with their PDHPE teacher once a fortnight. Students have begun sessions by connecting with others and looking at the definitions of respect, how it feels to be respected and how we can show others respect.

Stage 5 students are also completing RRE lessons combined with a Careers focus. Students will address key skills needed to join the workforce and how they can develop respectful connections but also seek help when connections are no longer respectful.

During Term One staff development days, all staff were introduced to data and statistics related to RRE and the ‘Why” behind this fantastic initiative. Staff continue to plan and implement collaborative learning strategies into their teaching and learning programs with one clear goal in mind- to strengthen and develop student connections in an inclusive and respectful format.

As the year progresses, the RRE team will update the school community on current focuses and the content being addressed. We have so many wonderful activities and initiatives planned to keep our school and community a respectful and welcoming space.

On behalf of the RRE team,

Mrs Jess Horne
