Special Award Nomination Process
At Boorowa Central School we award a variety of special awards at our Annual Presentation Night. These special awards are a great method of recognising students who have excelled in various fields. These awards include a perpetual trophy and prizes sponsored by community members.
To determine the winner of each special award, the teaching staff of Boorowa Central School go through a rigorous nomination and voting procedure. This procedure is as follows:
Step 1 – All teaching staff are emailed with a nomination form. This form includes each special award, the previous winners and what it is awarded for.
Step 2 – Staff complete the form, nominating those students who fit the category for each special award.
Step 2 – Nominations are collated and then shared with staff to vote
Step 3 – Staff then complete a preferential vote for each award category, numbering all nominated students.
Step 3 – The result of the votes is presented to the principal to verify and to make a final decision (in the event of a tie)
For sportsperson of the year awards, a scoring system is used to allocate points (see graphic below) against levels of representation. The students with the highest points are awarded sportsperson of the year.
The list of special awards presented at our Annual Presentation night in 2025 were as follows: Principal Award, Citizenship Award, Reuben F Scarf Commitment Award Secondary Creative and Performing Arts Award, Boorowa Teachers Association Award, Ampol Best All Rounder Award, Mark Evans Memorial Award, William Rubensohn Foundation Scholarship, Twomeys Accountant Award, Primary Cultural Award, Laurelle Nosworthy Memorial Award, Hilltops Agriculture Award, Jeremy Ford Memorial Award, Boorowa Courthouse Arts and Crafts, ADF Future Innovators Award, ADF Long Tan Leadership Award.
