Welcome to 2026

As we commence Term 1 2026, we feel a strong sense of enthusiasm and optimism for the year ahead. Whether you are returning to our School or joining the Kambala community for the first time, we offer you a sincere and heartfelt welcome. It was a pleasure to meet so many of you at the KPA Welcome Cocktail Party on Friday 30 January, where I had the opportunity to see our vibrant community come together, connect, and enjoy one another’s company as we marked the beginning of the academic year.

I hope the holiday period provided a chance to slow down, recharge, and enjoy meaningful time with family and friends. As we step into a new academic year, there is a natural momentum that comes with turning the page — an opportunity to reset priorities, establish new goals, and embrace what lies ahead. This forward-looking energy is especially evident at Kambala, as we begin a year that is already shaping up to be both rewarding and inspiring.

With the Multi-Purpose Auditorium and Sports Precinct works now underway, our school is truly alive with energy, activity and anticipation. Today marked a significant milestone — "the turning of the sod". This joyful moment was marked on the school oval and heralds the commencement of major construction on the long-awaited IT’S HER TIME Project—a moment we have all been eagerly anticipating. This represents far more than the start of building works; it signals a new chapter for our school and a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our community.  We encourage families to stay connected and informed as this exciting development unfolds via Sundial, where regular updates will be shared over the next 24 months, along with fortnightly updates in the Solstice newsletter.

The beginning of a new year also offers a valuable opportunity to reaffirm shared expectations and strengthen alignment across our community. Kambala is grounded in the values of Humanity, Courage, Curiosity and Respect. These values, alongside a shared understanding of positive and respectful behaviours, enable our students, staff and families to learn and grow together in meaningful ways. We look forward to seeing these values lived and modelled throughout 2026.

Kambala continues to be committed to creating an environment that inspires curiosity, fosters innovation, and promotes excellence. Exclusive to Kambala, from this year, students in Years 10 to 12 are invited to undertake the Global Citizenship Diploma (GCD), an optional two-year credential that recognises the skills, values and dispositions required to act with integrity, empathy and purpose in an interconnected world. More than a certificate, the GCD elevates the stories that shape who students are becoming, formally recognising learning that occurs beyond examinations. Ultimately, the GCD is an invitation to practise values, broaden horizons and shape senior years with purpose and global mindedness.

Term 1 is filled with shared joy and performances, where we come together to celebrate our talents and community. The Festival of Music is fast approaching, and I have already been a witness to the early stages of practice for what is shaping up to be yet another year of outstanding senior inter-house competition. The Senior School production Picnic at Hanging Rock, to be staged in March, will showcase the culmination of the passion, creativity and dedication of Kambala girls who are deeply committed to performance.

Adding to the energy of the term are the Junior and Senior School Swimming Carnivals — much-anticipated events that celebrate participation, house spirit and sporting excellence, while bringing our community together in true Kambala spirit.

As the year unfolds, we look forward with confidence and optimism to the many ways our students will discover their strengths and step into new opportunities. United as a school community, we remain committed to walking alongside one another, meeting challenges with courage and recognising the successes that emerge through perseverance and curiosity.

The year ahead promises to be rich with meaningful experiences, lasting connections and moments of transformation that reflect the very heart of a Kambala education. It is a privilege to partner with your family, and we eagerly anticipate all that 2026 will bring for every Kambala girl.
