A Strong Start in the Year 11–12 Learning Community

The year has begun with energy, connection and focus across the Year 11–12 Learning Community, setting a positive tone for the senior years ahead.
Our Year 12 students commenced the year with a two day Year 12 Retreat at School, designed to build connection, resilience and collective identity. Across two days, students took part in a fast-paced scavenger hunt, a Minute to Win It challenge, wellbeing and team-building activities, and the creation of a handprint affirmation mural that will stand as a visual reminder of their shared commitment to one another. A highlight of Friday was the good-natured but fiercely competitive netball match, conducted in extreme heat conditions, where students challenged staff — reinforcing the strong relationships and sense of mutual respect that underpin our senior learning environment. It does have to be said that some staff were left feeling their age after such fierce competition.
Year 11 students also returned with purpose, beginning the year with a dedicated day to reset, refocus and prepare for the demands of VCE. This provided valuable time to establish routines, set goals and mentally prepare for the academic intensity that accompanies senior study. Their strong start has been evident in classrooms, where students have already engaged deeply with learning as both practice and formal assessments begin to appear on the horizon.
Supporting students and families as they embark on senior pathways, we also hosted our VCE Information Evening for students undertaking one or more senior subjects. The evening focused on expectations, structures, and strategies for success, ensuring families are well informed and students begin their senior endeavours on solid footing.
Beyond the classroom, our Year 12s have already demonstrated outstanding leadership and role modelling. At the Years 3–12 Swimming Sports, they tirelessly supported younger students, encouraged participation, and upheld our College Values to the highest degree.
Their presence and commitment did not go unnoticed and exemplified the leadership we value in our senior students.
It has been a strong and purposeful start to the year, and we look forward to seeing our Year 11 and 12 students continue to grow, challenge themselves and support one another throughout 2026.
