Grade 1 Community News

Dear Year 1 Families,

Welcome back to a wonderful new school year! We were thrilled to begin working without new Year 1 students and look forward to a year filled with learning and fun. Year 1 is a crucial year in which students develop both their academic and social skills, and it is wonderful to embark on this journey together.

During the first week, we focused on our Learn-to-Learn program. This supports students in understanding classroom expectations and routines, as well as what it means to be a successful learner. Students are learning to listen carefully to instructions, take turns, ask for help, look after our classroom, and try their best, even when learning feels challenging.

We have also taken the time to get to know one another and build a safe, happy classroom community where everyone feels a sense of belonging.

Following this, students will begin our English and Maths programs.

We are very proud of how the students began their very first week of Year 1. They are starting to settle into classroom routines, form friendships, and show enthusiasm for their learning. Starting a new school year is a big step, and the children have done a wonderful job adjusting to Year 1 expectations.

  • Please make sure your child has a named water bottle at school each day to stay hydrated, especially during warmer weather.
