Preps
Welcome to our brand new 2026 Preps! We are so excited to have met you, and you have all started so well! This week, we started PE with an introduction to the space that we will be working in and got straight into our Fundamental Movement Skills! We started with our Magic Shoe Box and learnt how to do backwards shoes, crab shoes, which is our side stepping, hopping shoes, marching/skipping shoes, Frog shoes, and bear shoes.
Grade 1s and 2s
Grade 1s and 2s have been settling well back into the routine of PE really well. We have started with the students getting straight back into their Fundamental Movement Skills through “Magic Shoebox” as well as “Rob the Nest” to practice students running. We are looking forward to improving on the skills learnt in the years prior and watching the students grow.
Grade 3s and 4s
Grade 3s have taken the leap from learning skills and fundamental Movement Skills to now learning how they can apply those skills and movements into different games. We have started by learning the rules and basics of diamond games, with Teeball being the main focus.
Grade 4s have continued their knowledge that they have gained in Term 4 last year and have hit the ground running! They are using their knowledge from last year's teeball unit to excel in this term's unit.
Grades 5s and 6s
Grade 5s have started off with the Striking and Fielding game of Cricket. This week we focused on the rules of cricket and moved into our bowling technique. The bowling technique that we use is a little star, big star, rock and roll paint the rainbow action, which focuses on keeping the bowling arm straight to avoid throwing the ball when bowling.
Grade 6s have continued with softball and have focused on their striking practice. When striking, the students have focused on keeping their eyes on the ball, starting and finishing in a double V, as well as ensuring that they are positioning their feet in a way that will help with their aim.
