School Council News

December 2025

It has been a year of proactive discussions and well contemplated decisions by our dedicated school council members. My many thanks.

As the governing body of Mullauna Secondary College, it is not always easy to navigate the requirements of the education department and the wishes of our school community.

As a parent, I come way from these meetings with a greater understanding of how well our school is run and how dedicated our staff is to maintain these high standards.

‘Finances’ are presented and discussed at every meeting, and it surprises SRC and parent members, how tight the government budget is for every student. As a public school in the eastern suburbs, Mullauna SC has many things to offer, but can only do so if we as a community - ‘Chip Away’ - at contributions.

Decisions to run extra programs are made a year ahead by our leadership group, staff and SSC, are voted on by school council and implemented into the next yearly budget. There is always great optimism that our finances will be well padded by the government and families.

Every program run at school is for the benefit of all our students, and our kids have the great opportunity to participate in as many as they wish or time allows within the classrooms, representing their school or developing their personal growth.

I cheer and celebrate every photo posted on Facebook and personally would love to be at as many events as possible, alas I have a life too.

So, for the year 2025 – I would like to extend my gratitude to all Mullauna SC staff – for the … Camps, Sports Days, In/Excursions, Concerts, Production, German Exchange program, Art show, Study groups, Lunchtime activities, the Library Space after school, the Wellbeing centre, etc …….

and for looking after my child too.

Wishing you all the best for the festive season and the new year.

Keep well and enjoy your kids, they are all amazing!
