Foundation/ Year 1 News 

Our new Foundation/Year 1 PLC is off to a great start in the Davey Building. It is fantastic to have our Year 1 role models close to our Foundation students who are learning about school.

This week in Foundation, we have been reading the book, 'Starting School' as we begin developing routines and learning how to be learners at school. We are also learning about our school values, Courage, Kindess and Respect. All Foundation children showed wonderful courage by completing their first piece of work to represent their writing and drawing on their first day of school. These are now on display in our classrooms for families to view on your next visit.

This week in Year 1, we have been exploring some Julia Donaldson picture books as we revise and establish routines. Students have also begun exploring poetry, including rhyme. Our Year 1 students are also demonstrating courage and creating their own pieces, using their senses.

REMINDERS:

• Please make sure you send along Brain Food (e.g. fruit, vegetables, yoghurt pouch, sultanas, cheese etc) in a separate small container each day. All F/1 classes allocate time for children to eat their Brain Food in the morning as they continue to learn. Having this food in a separate container supports independence and efficiency in our classrooms. 
• Please check that all uniform and food and drink containers are clearly labelled with your child's name. In Foundation we have a number of children with the same/similar first names so please also add a surname. This helps us to promptly return any found items.
